Tribal Area Description
Modoc in Oklahoma is an Oklahoma Tribal Statistical Area (OTSA), a Census statistical geography intended to represent the former reservation area associated with the tribe rather than a current reservation or trust land base. Boundary records for Modoc show about 6.24 square miles (3,997 acres) for this Oklahoma Tribal area, centered near latitude 36.8618548 and longitude -94.6408441. The Modoc Nation is a federally recognized Native American Tribe located in Oklahoma. To serve the citizens of the Modoc Nation through effective governance, economic and educational empowerment, cultural stewardship, and sustainable development, preserving our heritage while advancing our sovereignty. The Modoc Nation is a federally recognized Indian Tribe. In 2022, the Modoc Nation tribal members voted Robert Burkybile the new Chief of the Modoc Nation.
