The latest FCC BDC filing shows 9 fixed providers and 4 mobile providers across roughly 2 service locations, with current availability of 97.0% at 25/3 Mbps, 72.7% at 100/20, and 71.1% at 1000/100.
Tribal Area Description
Morongo is a federally recognized tribe in California with tribal lands. The land base is relevant for broadband planning due to rural service coverage and middle-mile access constraints.
Morongo is dedicated to the wellbeing of Tribal Members by promoting economic vitality, preserving reservation and culture, and protecting sovereignty—working across governments in pursuit of self-determination. The Morongo Band of Mission Indians is a sovereign tribal government serving the Morongo Indian Reservation beneath the San Gorgonio Mountains—building a strong future through self-determination while honoring and preserving our traditions. Tribal Members elect a seven-member Tribal Council, and the Tribe is organized across 17 government departments supporting the community and reservation services. Morongo provides essential services through an independent tribal government. Located within traditional Cahuilla territory, Morongo’s reservation history dates to its establishment in 1865. Through Community Outreach, Morongo has provided more than $5 million over the past five years to nonprofits serving the region and Southern California. Resilient and resourceful, the Morongo tribe has had to overcome many adversities.
