Tribal Area Description
Berry Creek is a federally recognized tribe in California with tribal lands. The land base is relevant for broadband planning due to rural service coverage and middle-mile access constraints.
Berry Creek Rancheria of Tyme Maidu Indians of California is a Federally Recognized Native American Tribe located in Oroville, California. Listen to tribal youth interview Berry Creek tribal member Peter Telleria and Joseph Brown on the importance of handgame and clapper sticks to the tribe! As a sovereign government, we work hard to provide for our citizens, protect our future as Maidu people, and support the greater community through our projects and enterprises. Community members, family, and friends came from far and wide to celebrate. We know how important it is to protect these relationships so that our children and grandchildren can continue our ways of life into the future. The Tyme Maidu people have lived in the land now known as Butte County since time immemorial. Our relationship with this place drives our work.
